I am an artist and fully qualified primary school teacher (B.Ed Art Honours) local to West Sussex, with over 25 years’ experience. I have always had a passion for art and being able to express creatively my love of nature combined with my inspirations and feelings.
I studied art as a major component of my teaching degree and from a traditional style began to create more abstract acrylic and mixed media works. This culminated in my degree exhibition, a mixed media collection of art work representative of the Earth’s core and oceans where I embedded silk painting into paper pulp.
|
Although acrylic paint continues to remain my preferred medium I have in recent years rediscovered a love of silk painting as I enjoy the way images evolve through the paints reaction to the silk. I have also started producing rag rug art works as I have found the sensory and tactile aspects of these creations most enjoyable and another way to express my creativity.
The process of art, the creativity and expression, has been instrumental in my art career as it is my love of sharing and encouraging this which has inspired me to plan and deliver many varied art workshops, classes and tutoring sessions to children and adults. |
|
The eight years I spent combining my passion for art and teaching by creating and managing my own art business Artivity, (where I delivered over 400 art workshops and parties in the West Sussex and Surrey area) has given me the skills and experience to successfully tutor and deliver pop-up art experiences (Art Escape) to children and adults today.
In 2019 I took part in the Chichester Open Studios Art Trail where I sold several paintings and mini rag rug art works.

I also had a display of my art work exhibited at Chichester Library (February 2019). Several of my paintings have also been a part of the Stride Open Art exhibitions over the years. |
My art work collection, which can be viewed in my online gallery, shows a range of pieces in a variety of medium including acrylics, silk paint and mixed media. The collection encapsulates my feelings, inspirations and persistent desire to create.
